The Backyard Brawl: A vitriolic Appalachian tradition

From burning couches to displaying effigies of head coaches, the Backyard Brawl has a contentious history that dates back to 1895, when Pitt won 8-0. Since then, the game has turned into a battleground of insults and deep-rooted Appalachian rivalry.

PolishFest 2022 spreads cultural knowledge and awareness on campus

Upon entering the Cathedral of Learning Commons Room on Sunday, a rich aroma of fried dough and pierogies, as well as the sounds of Lithuanian and Polish folk music, greeted around 150 visitors.
Students have plenty of opportunities to enjoy joining the exciting culture that comes with being a Pitt fan.
