Women’s basketball beginning to build on program lows

Pitt women’s basketball’s 2019-20 season was one of the worst in program history. But despite the lows, the Panthers have plenty to build on as they enter an offseason lengthened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pitt women’s basketball looked to end their regular season on a high note in Miami on Sunday, hoping to get their first road win in ACC play this season and stop their long losing streak. Instead, the Hurricanes controlled the game from start to finish, shot the ball efficiently and outscored Pitt 62-36 in the first three quarters on the way to a 73-54 route.

Pitt women’s basketball entered Sunday’s game against rival Notre Dame hoping to get revenge for its close, early-January loss to the Irish. Despite a strong start, Pitt’s shooting struggles and a key injury handicapped the team on its way to another big defeat, 74-52 in South Bend, Indiana.
