Panthers mauled by No. 3 Cardinals, 81-39, remain winless in ACC

Pitt women’s basketball suffered its third consecutive blowout loss in ACC play on Thursday night, succumbing to No. 3 Louisville 81-39. After more than two weeks off, the Panthers looked rusty rather than well-rested.

Pitt women’s basketball entered Friday night’s home game against No. 2 NC State riding its best start since 2009. But a blowout loss proved that the Panthers — despite their improvements — are still a long way from competing with the elite.

Pitt women’s basketball started its season with an 82-63 win against Radford University at the Petersen Events Center. They followed this up with yet another home victory against Lafayette two days later, 72-63.
