A Pitt Emergency… Around 10 a.m. today Pitt received its 11th bomb threat of the semester.

A Pitt Emergency Notification System alert said that a general bomb threat was received at Chevron Science Center, and advised people to evacuate. The building was reopened nearly an hour and a half later.

Earlier this morning all three Litchfield Towers were evacuated at around 4 a.m. for two and a half hours while the buildings were searched. A Pitt ENS alert was not sent out about the evacuation.

Enrico Mazza was one of the hundreds of freshmen awoken by alarms in Tower B.

“It’s getting annoying,” the biology major said in Towers lobby at 10:30 a.m., still wearing pajama pants. “I don’t want to do it anymore, especially when I’m asleep.”

He said that he didn’t observe any students “running around” or panicking at the sound of alarms.

On Monday both the Cathedral of Learning and David Lawrence Hall received bomb threats. This marked the Cathedral’s sixth bomb threat since March 14.

After the two threats on Monday, Pitt posted a message on the my.pitt homepage notifying students that the award has increased from $10,000 to $50,000 for anyone who has information about the actor responsible for the threats.

Pitt spokesperson Robert Hill was not available for immediate comment.
