Temporary, all-day building closures after pipe burst
February 17, 2015
A frozen pipe burst in Sennott Square on Tuesday afternoon prompted temporary and all-day building closures.
Two businesses, Panera Bread and New Balance Shoes and Apparel, will reopen tomorrow, while the academic portion reopened around 2 p.m.
Around 12:50 p.m., fire crews arrived at the building on Forbes Avenue because of the triggered sprinkler system, according to University spokesperson John Fedele.
The building had “minimal damage,” Fedele said, including wet carpets.
Elizabeth Gee, a manager at Panera, which is located in the building, said the restaurant’s damage “wasn’t too bad,” and will reopen tomorrow. Matt Moore, a representative from New Balance, said it will also reopen tomorrow.
