Pitt faculty union, administration clash over lifting mask mandate

The United Steelworkers union filed an unfair practices charge against Pitt on Friday, alleging that University administrators failed to consult faculty before announcing that campus buildings would go mask optional starting Monday, according to a Friday evening press release from the Steelworkers.

Senate Council discusses new masking guidelines, government funding for in-state tuition

The Senate Council started its Wednesday meeting by discussing these new guidelines. The Council, which met in-person and on Zoom, also discussed government funding for in-state tuition, the Russia-Ukraine war and external interference on what can or cannot be covered in courses.

Students fight environmental injustice in Pittsburgh through advocacy project

Students in R. Ward Allebach’s Sustainability course are tasked with creating a semester-long project focusing on either sustainability or environmental issues on campus. According to Martina Frederick, her group, “The Ecojustice Allies,” dedicated the semester to addressing environmental racism and injustice on campus and in the city of Pittsburgh.
