Pitt has not yet made any changes to return-to-campus plans for the spring 2022 semester, but could do so by Jan. 3 as worries rise due to the highly transmissible Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Pitt officials said Thursday that 69 students and 31 employees tested positive for COVID-19 from Dec. 1 to Dec. 7. The number of new student cases per day are, on average, the highest of the semester, which officials said is of “some concern.”
