Pitt Day of Giving raises nearly $3 million, up 19% from last year

The sixth annual Pitt Day of Giving — a 24-hour fundraising initiative — took place all day Tuesday. This year’s PDoG raised $2,956,566, up about 19% from the $2,494,002 raised during last year’s event.

The fifth annual Pitt Day of Giving — a 24-hour fundraising initiative — took place all day Tuesday. This year’s PDoG raised about $2.49 million, as of Wednesday at 2 a.m. — up about 51% from last year’s event, which raised $1.65 million.
Pitt Day of Giving is the same day as the first spring semester student self-care day.

Tuesday is the fourth annual Pitt Day of Giving — a 24-hour fundraising event which encourages students, faculty, staff, family and alumni to donate to various organizations within the University. This year, some changes have been made to how it’s run.

Pitt’s third annual Day of Giving was held on Thursday, Feb. 28. This year’s PDoG raised $4.2 million from more than 6,000 donors, which includes students, alumni and Pitt employees. Unlike the past two PDoGs, this year’s combined a day-long on-campus event with the online donation campaign. The campus event brought together students and senior leadership to celebrate Pitt’s 232nd birthday and increase on-campus engagement.

Pitt Men’s Glee Club, which won $2,500 for bringing in the second-highest number of donations among student groups on Thursday’s third annual Pitt Day of Giving, allegedly encouraged its members to make donations in exchange for discounts on club expenses and, in some cases, full reimbursement.
