‘No follow up, nothing’: Students struggle to report large parties

The COVID Concern Connection system — which gives the Pitt community an anonymous way to share concerns — has received more than 1,300 reports this year. But some students are not satisfied with this reporting system.
The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation’s monthly Oakwatch meeting included two featured speakers from Pitt — Kenyon Bonner, vice provost and dean of students, and Paul Supowitz, vice chancellor for community and governmental relations.

Over 300 students receive code of conduct violations for COVID-19 infractions

More than 300 students have received code of conduct violations for breaking COVID-19 mitigation protocols this semester, according to Vice Provost and Dean of Students Kenyon Bonner.
Pitt has not disclosed the specific location of student quarantine and isolation housing.

In Pitt’s quarantine housing, students described lax rules and little oversight, allowing them to skirt the University’s physical distancing rules. One student said they went on walks outside, and others in the housing had visitors, even whole families.

5 Greek life chapters placed on interim suspension

Five Greek life chapters were placed on “Interim Suspension of Registration” on Wednesday after allegedly violating the University’s Health and Safety Guidelines, the Student Code of Conduct and the Fraternity and Sorority Guidelines.

Students, faculty and staff required to complete COVID-19 training for fall

Eric Macadangdang, Student Government Board president, said at a Thursday afternoon town hall that Pitt would not be allowing students to convert courses from a letter grade to satisfactory/no credit at the end of the fall semester.
