By emphasizing that I need a man, I know they mean that I need someone who can look after me, who is stronger, assertive and more dominant. It implies that the “right guy” will force me to take a step back while he makes decisions for the both of us and, if need be, can “defend my honor” if another man makes me feel unsafe

It is almost as if “sorry” is the default response for women. They apologize for having emotions and showing them, for asking a valid question and for walking in the same direction as someone in the store, they apologize for their failures and their successes.

As a woman living in the 21st century, I witness and experience gender biases regularly. Gender inequality permeates almost every aspect of life. Having to continuously be aware that my gender will create disadvantages is a harsh reality that all women must come to terms with.
