Pitt suspends six football players

With only a few hours until the first football game of the season against Youngstown State, Pitt…With only a few hours until the first football game of the season against Youngstown State, Pitt head coach Paul Chryst suspended six players.

According to a press release, starting defensive lineman Tyrone Ezell, reserve defensive lineman Shayne Hale, receivers Ronald Jones and Chris Davis, running back Rushel Shell and defensive back Anthony Gonzalez are suspended for the game for disciplinary reasons.

This is the second time Chryst suspended players. At the beginning of August, offensive lineman Juantez Hollins was suspended for the entirety of the the 2012 season.

This is freshman Davis’ second suspension. He was suspended at the beginning of August for disciplinary reasons that resulted in him sitting out the first week of camp.

Kickoff time has been delayed 30 minutes to 6:30 p.m. due to weather.
