Pitt staff votes to unionize, plans to begin bargaining with university in coming months

On Friday the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board announced the majority of Pitt staff members voted in favor of joining a union. The Pitt Staff Union will now have two bargaining units — one for professional staff and another for nonprofessional staff.

The couple that threw smoke bombs during the Michael Knowles vs. Brad Polumbo debate on April 18th have pleaded guilty to charges of obstructing law enforcement and conspiracy during civil disorder.

At 11:30 a.m. on Friday, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation, assisted by the Pitt Police, received a report of a “hate crime/assault” that occurred in the area of Semple and Ward St at 2 a.m.
