Review | ‘Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!’ in Pittsburgh and a love letter to NPR

By Patrick Swain, Culture Editor April 14, 2024

From a young age, I’ve found solace in the Pavlovian pleasure of the brassy “All Things Considered” chime. While other kids were begging their parents to turn the dial to Top 40 pop radio, I preferred...

By Ore Fawole, Staff Writer March 17, 2024

There has been especially large vocabulary used to describe Denis Villeneuve’s second installment in the “Dune” trilogy — epic, massive, saga and space opera, to name a few. This language may seem...

Review | Live-action ‘Avatar’ series brings needed representation, but falls short of the original

By Irene Castillo, Staff Writer March 5, 2024

A few things made me the critical thinker I am today — my mother, Luisa Capetillo’s feminist literature and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” The show cemented my beliefs in what freedom truly means...

By Patrick Swain, Culture Editor March 1, 2024

As the lights went down on the opening night of “The Book of Mormon,” I thought back to New York City in 2011. I was eight years old, and a billboard bearing an image of a well-dressed, clean-cut young...
