Slates present platforms at “Meet the Candidates” event

To prepare for its Feb. 19 election, Student Government Board hosted a “Meet the Candidates” event on Thursday evening with Pitt Tonight host Andrew Dow. At the event, held in the William Pitt Union, the two presidential candidates and 10 board candidates introduced themselves and their reasons for running to the public — though most of the 30 or so people who attended were already affiliated with the board.

Las Palmas remains open after several health inspections

After at least three visits from the Allegheny County Health Department since it was ordered to close Jan. 24, Las Palmas #2, the Oakland location of the Mexican grocery and restaurant, was reinspected Feb. 5 and permitted to remain open.
The Bridge on Forbes in West Oakland is currently still under construction.

Pitt introduces new housing option

Beginning this August, students will have another off-campus housing option. Last week, Pitt approved a three-year lease for up to 230 students to be housed in 87 apartments inside The Bridge on Forbes, a new upscale apartment complex that is still under construction in West Oakland.
In spite of interest from Air Force ROTC and Swanson school engineers, Pitt does not currently offer an Aerospace program.
