Pitt added 50 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 42 students and eight employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 71 students currently in isolation. Pitt will institute a University-wide shelter in place on April 16 before in-person commencement.
After Pitt experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases after St. Patrick’s Day parties, Dr. John Williams, the head of the COVID-19 Medical Response Office, presented a more optimistic picture of Pitt’s pandemic outlook Thursday afternoon.

Pitt added 22 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 21 students and one employee, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 33 students currently in isolation. The University’s previous case report, covering last Friday to Monday, included 17 cases.

Students are finding it more difficult to find support for their disabilities due to remote learning. Pitt’s Office of Disability Resources and Services is providing different accommodations, such as increasing time limits on Canvas.
Pitt’s Global Studies Center hosted a webinar titled “Transnational Dialogues in Afrolatinidad: Education and Anti-Blackness” on Friday afternoon. The webinar focused on how history, education and anti-Blackness impact Afro-Latin Americans and their communities, and how higher education can do more to teach this history.
