Ruskin goes green with new composting program

The Compost Collective, made up of Amanda Lee, Celeste Calderon and Fiona Benge, piloted a composting program for students living in Ruskin Hall last month. The collective aims to make composting an easy and routine practice for students living in apartment-style residence halls.
All Pitt Eats locations still participate in the food recovery program and continue to donate surplus food to local agencies that fight hunger, diverting it from landfills.

COVID-19 restrictions affect waste across campus

Even though COVID-19 has impacted how the Pitt community operates this semester, students are still thinking about sustainable practices on campus. Maya Knee, the director of the Pitt Green Fund, said students are still focusing on sustainability during this time.
Compost bins are now located next to trash and recycling bins in the William Pitt Union.

Compost bins introduced in bid for eco friendly campus

Pitt is finally bringing compost bins to five of the University's most frequented buildings, as part of a collaboration between the Student Office of Sustainability and Student Affairs.
