Dunkin’ opened a store on Centre Avenue Monday morning. The franchise is celebrating the occasion by offering customers $.99 any size iced or hot coffee all day.

The Swanson School of Engineering hosted its first virtual design expo last semester on Nov. 23. The event has historically been held in person at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event was forced to move online.

Pitt adds 15 COVID-19 cases since Tuesday

Pitt added 15 new COVID-19 cases, composed of 13 students and two employees, between Tuesday and Thursday, with 29 students currently in isolation. The University’s previous case report, covering last Friday to Monday, included 22 cases.
“First Peoples Past & Present: Native Health and Voting Power,” an event focusing on the history of Native people in Pittsburgh and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on Native communities, was hosted by Pitt’s Office of Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion on Wednesday afternoon.

Two Pitt diversity offices hosted a panel Wednesday afternoon focusing on the history of Native people in and around Pittsburgh, as well as examining the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on Native communities.
Pitt’s Office of University Counsel paid Philadelphia-based Ballard Spahr $881,069 in fees between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020 to contest simultaneous but separate unionization attempts by faculty and graduate students.

Ballard Spahr, a “union avoidance” law firm, received roughly $881,000 from Pitt between July 2019 and June 2020. Pitt has now paid the firm more than $2 million since grad student and faculty unionization efforts kicked off in 2016.
