Pitt officials said Thursday that 69 students and 31 employees tested positive for COVID-19 from Dec. 1 to Dec. 7. The number of new student cases per day are, on average, the highest of the semester, which officials said is of “some concern.”

Pitt’s vaccination policy, which requires that all students, faculty and staff be vaccinated against COVID-19, went into effect Monday. The stakes for unvaccinated students who don’t get an exemption are high — disenrollment for the spring semester.
Pitt will implement a COVID-19 vaccine requirement after Thanksgiving break, on Dec. 6. COVID-19 cases remain low.
