Pitt boasts rich track & field Olympic history

As Black History Month comes to a close, relive four iconic stories of Pitt track and field Olympians — tales filled with resiliency, dominance and inspiration.
Bobby Grier was a fullback and linebacker, and only Black player on the team in 1956, for Pitt football from 1952-55.  Now, he is 88 years old, and known as the man who integrated the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2, 1956.

Pitt legend Jimbo Covert selected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

Pitt football legend Jimbo Covert, who played offensive tackle for the Panthers from 1978-82 and then for the Chicago Bears from 1983-90, was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Wednesday morning.
Pitt retired Billy Knight's number 34 jersey in 1989.
