Gov. Shapiro proposes flat funding for Pitt and additional money through new funding council

Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed state budget includes flat funding for Pennsylvania’s four state-related universities, with an additional $60 million to be distributed among Pitt, Penn State, Temple and Lincoln through the Performance-Based Funding Council established last July.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is considering a bill that would move the state closer to approving funding for the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University and Penn State.
