Pittsburgh climate change activists plan for the future

Leandra Mira organized the local branch of September's Global Climate Strike, which an estimated 1,000 people attended, making it the largest climate rally ever held in Pittsburgh. Now, another large-scale protest is being planned for Earth Day.
The University Senate’s Plant Utilization and Planning Committee met Monday afternoon in Forbes Tower to discuss the changes to Pitt’s campus brought up in the recently released Institutional Master Plan.

A “union avoidance” law firm continues to receive a large windfall of legal fees from Pitt, recently passing $1 million, according to University financial disclosure reports.
The Plant2Plate garden, which has been used for more than a decade, will be paved over and relocated as soon as the end of this semester due to campus changes outlined in the Institutional Master Plan.

The University will announce a major initiative regarding art on campus later this month, according to the University Times.
Daniel Hinkson, the program director of Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health in the Department of Infectious Diseases, filed a civil complaint against the University for allegedly discriminating against him on the basis of disability.
